Irony and intelligence to get to the essence of things. The poetics of Tino Stefanoni
#Exhibitions

By vocation, the M77 gallery looks at Italian artists less known to the general public who have contributed actively and substantially to the contemporary artistic scene. From Maria Lai to Emilio Isgrò, from Alberto Biasi to Grazia Varisco, the retrospectives that have followed retrace, with a new and experimental approach, the fundamental stages of Italian post-war art history. Now the showcase is the turn of Tino Stefanoni, an artist active from the 1960s to the twenty-first century. The first works on display, which date back to the 1960s, reveal Tino Stefanoni's meticulous observation of everyday objects. This is followed by the works resulting from research conducted in the 1980s conveyed in the fragmented representation of landscapes with vaporous lines. From this period Stefanoni created painted paintings, which closely resemble the metaphysical compositions of Carrà and De Chirico. Unreal atmospheres, sparse and essential landscapes are the recurring themes of Tino Stefanoni's poetics who, with intelligence and irony, explored the appearance of everyday life to trace its essence.
