In the setting of the Chinese National Opera and Dance Theater - the largest state theater with a long history behind it, where over one hundred dance operas and dramas have been performed, including the first national opera White Haired Girlva - is now being staged Dance Drama Confucius. It is a work focused on the decline of the Empire at the time of Confucius. Palace intrigues, conflicts between traitor ministers and the distractions of the Emperor had dragged China into a climate of heated conspiracies. Unable to change the government's fortunes, Confucius was forced to become a fugitive. Trapped in extreme poverty and without food, in the middle of a snowstorm, Confucius had a vision that gave shape to his ideal of Great Harmony. On the way back, Virtues of the Silent Orchid was no longer a song of self-pity, but of heavy responsibility that indicated the long road ahead to reach the truth. For two days, from 8 to 9 August 2024, the National Theater presents a show of great visual and moral impact.
