Artemisia Gentileschi was an Italian painter of the Caravaggio school, born in Rome in 1593 and died in Naples probably in 1656. A protagonist of European painting, Artemisia was one of the rare painters of the modern era to achieve international fame during her lifetime and who was able to live off her art. The Jacquemart-André Museum tells her extraordinary artistic journey through approximately forty paintings, which bring together recognized masterpieces by the artist, recently attributed canvases and paintings rarely exhibited before. An exhibition that recounts the profound originality of Gentileschi's work, her journey and her identity, still sources of great inspiration and unchanging charm today.
