Raymond Subes, Necklace, 20th century, Graphite pencil, gouache, card, 23.8x16 cm. Petit Palais, Museum of Fine arts of the City of Paris - © Paris Musées / Petit Palais, ADAGP, Paris, 2025

The Petit Palais boasts a little-known collection of nearly 5.700 jewelry drawings and models spanning more than a century of design, from the second half of the 19th century to the mid-20th century. In spring 2025, an exhibition dedicated to this collection will allow the public to discover these treasures, emerging from the darkness of the Parisian museum’s storerooms for the first time. The exhibition presents the various stages of the creation process with model studies, preparatory sketches, gouaches in seductive colors, and even three-dimensional models. A tale that spans eras and styles, mixing Second Empire jewelry design with that of Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
