From June 30 to July 13, the Wimbledon tournament returns to the heart of the international tennis season. This will be the 138th edition of the sport’s oldest Grand Slam, once again held on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. This year marks a historic shift: for the first time, line judges will be replaced entirely by the Hawk-Eye electronic system. In the men’s draw, the spotlight is on Jannik Sinner, current ATP world number one, making his return following a suspension issued by international anti-doping authorities. The Italian arrives at Wimbledon after a season that confirmed his technical and mental maturity. Having reached the semifinals in 2023 and shown steady progress in recent years, he is widely seen as the player to beat. Among his main challengers is Carlos Alcaraz, defending champion and winner of the past two editions, who defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets in last year’s final. Also in contention are Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev, both still seeking their first title at the All England Club. In the women’s tournament, Barbora Krejčíková will defend the title she claimed last year, while the main contenders include current world number one Iga Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka, a consistent presence in the final rounds at Wimbledon still in search of her first crown.
