teamLab Borderless is an exhibition which aspires to be a “total” work of art in which individual works are conceived and installed in such a way as to create a continuous itinerary which twists and turns in unexpected ways, opening up endless possibilities despite the finite space that contains it. It is an invitation to reflect on the communion between the Self and the Cosmos, the micro and the macro. Combining the technological know-how of the Japanese collective teamLab (founded in 2001 and known for its interdisciplinary approach) with an aesthetic which recalls the traditions of the Orient, the exhibition offers immersive and interactive installations in which the spectator is an active subject whose very passage contributes to creating a new way of undertaking and experiencing the itinerary forged by the artists. New technology is used to liberate the viewer and artist from technical and physical limitations and engage both in a continuous flow in which nature and artifice are complementary and in direct communication.
