Happy Exploration: AroundSpace Artists Group Show | Courtesy AroundSpace Gallery Shanghai

A light flight drifts through the halls of AroundSpace Gallery. The group exhibition A Happy Exploration brings together eight artists from Europe and Asia, inviting visitors on a journey that blends generations, geographies, and sensibilities under the banner of creative freedom. From Switzerland to the Netherlands, from Canada to Mongolia, these artists turn painting into a field of experimentation that breaks cultural and temporal boundaries. Some, like Dutch veteran Klaas Gubbels, continue to paint with inexhaustible energy after six decades of work, while others, such as young Swiss Kotscha Reist, reduce production to give greater space to emotional intensity. Alois Lichtsteiner conceals brushstrokes beneath luminous layers of color, while Huang Yuanqing lets abstraction quietly converse with Chinese calligraphy. Between tangible landscapes and inner visions, each work tells a personal way of remaining “carefree”: free to grow, to slow down, to reinvent. Like the mythical bird Peng and the fish Kun, these artists fly and swim beyond the ordinary, transforming the gallery into a landscape of joyful discoveries.
