Yinka Shonibare, a post-colonial future

Yinka Shonibare, a post-colonial future
#Exhibitions

Yinka Shonibare is an artist who explores cultural identity, colonialism and postcolonialism in the contemporary context of globalization. The new solo exhibition, which brings together new and recent works by the British artist born in Nigeria in 1962, comes to life at the Serpentine to coincide with Shonibare's presence at the 60th Venice Biennale from April 2024. Titled Suspended States, the London exhibition includes installations, sculptures, pictorial quilts and woodcuts. Works that talk about central themes for the artist - such as the legacy of colonial power and migration - opening up to conversations on the role of public sculptures and their meaning in our cities.
