A gigantic and stunning Buddha in white plaster, stretched out in front of gardens and volcanic peaks, sleeps peacefully on the second floor of Vihara Dharma Giri, a wondrous Buddhist temple among the famed rice paddies that surround the village of Pupuan in Tabanan. Hindu figures guard the entrance of the vihara while a tranquil courtyard inhabited by fresh plants welcomes visitors who find themselves immediately immersed in the zen atmosphere which pervades this harmonious and serene location. Another statue of Buddha sitting, made of gold, created for the faithful in the room dedicated exclusively to prayer on the third and top floor of the temple, also contains a pavilion with a large bell. It is possible to participate in the Buddhist meditation held in the vihara after consulting the schedule or by requesting information from the director of the temple.
