Paolo Roversi, balance beyond fashion

Paolo Roversi, balance beyond fashion
#Exhibitions

Talking about fashion, style, beauty through the lens of a camera. Paolo Roversi is an artist born in Italy but who has spent much of his life in France, establishing himself from the beginning as one of the most appreciated photographers in the field of fashion and collaborating with some of the most important stylists in the world. Above all Yohji Yamamoto, Romeo Gigli and Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons. His immediately recognizable style - a soft and natural black and white, a deep and dense use of color given by the use of the Mag-Life flashlight - has established him as a true master in this field and has made him conquer the covers of most prestigious fashion magazines, including Vogue France, Vogue Italia, Egoïste and Luncheon. Each of his fashion photographs is itself a portrait. Paolo Roversi is at the center of the "fashion system" but, at the same time, he manages to maintain a certain distance, away from ephemeral currents. In search of beauty, Roversi has created a singular and timeless body of work. This exhibition brings together 140 works, including unpublished images, Polaroid prints and archives (magazines, catalogues, etc.) which give an insight into Paolo Roversi's professional and artistic career over over 40 years.
