Nicolas Party's wonderful creatures under the threat of extinction

Nicolas Party's wonderful creatures under the threat of extinction
#Exhibitions

For Nicolas Party, painting is an imaginative space, where our perception of reality is reshaped in a dreamlike disorientation. The theme close to his heart is the natural environment heavily compromised by human action. The protagonists of his canvases are some curious and wonderful animals: the seahorse, the octopus and the moth. They all appear suspended in a vaporous enigmatic substance, halfway between liquid and gas, polychrome which alludes to the looming threat of disastrous environmental events: the bright yellows and oranges could be the reflection of devastating fires, while the dark darkness of the swirls evokes masses of water contaminated by dangerous liquid substances. The fascinating vitality of the animals captured in the paintings seems to be threatened by imminent extinction, fueling widespread anxieties about the collapse of our ecosystem.
