Since the Neolithic Age, jade from the Hetian Region of Xinjiang has been known for its exceptional qualities: its luster and color make this precious variety unique in the world. It is mined from the majestic Kunlun Mountains, with their endless snow-capped peaks and torrential rivers. The processing of jade is one of the most refined traditions of Chinese culture. The exhibition set up at the Palace Museum is an opportunity to admire over 258 masterpieces made of the precious stone. Among the most significant objects, the artifact depicting a legendary beast in Chinese mythology, the Leprechaun, dating back to the Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD) and the Seal of the "Great Qing receiving the Mandate", a jade ornament carved with the poems of the Qianlong Emperor.
