The designs of David Hockney, Michael Craig-Martin and Cornelia Parker are on show at the British

The role of a museum is to be a living institution, also immersed in the contemporary. This is how the British Museum seems to have understood its mission, which in 2001, thanks to a donation from the Rootstein Hopkins Foundation - founded by the designers of theatrical props and retail Adel Rootstein (1930 - 1992) and Richard Hopkins (1927 - 2000) - was able to create an important contemporary art collection that brings together drawings and works on paper created by living artists and designers. The exhibition features around 100 masterpieces from this collection, with prints by David Hockney, Michael Craig-Martin, Cornelia Parker and Yinka Shonibare CBE and drawings by Richard Deacon, Celia Paul and Soheila Sokhanvari. An exhibition that also explores the relationship between the Museum's contemporary and historical collections through works of art inspired by art history, including prints and drawings by Pablo Bronstein, Glenn Brown, Ann-Marie James and Jake Garfield.
