A luxurious hotel with no staff, where every desire is anticipated by an algorithm and all traces of humanity are erased. This is Nøtel - not just an exhibition, but an immersive experience that transforms the gallery into a futuristic sales suite for a resort that (perhaps) exists only in our imagination. Through interactive virtual environments, cinematic trailers, digital prints, and electronic soundscapes, visitors are led on a journey through synthetic glamour and technological unease, where reality blurs into simulation. Alienating elegance, hyper-design, and total automation frame a subtle yet unflinching question: what do we lose when we surrender control to machines? Behind this visionary universe is a digital world-builder who fuses video games, electronic sound, and speculative narrative. Lawrence Lek's works do more than envision the future - they construct it. And in doing so, they compel us to look beyond the shimmering surface of innovation, and confront urgent questions about autonomy, desire, and identity in an increasingly automated world.
