Koraïchi's Alphabet of Memory

Koraïchi's Alphabet of Memory
#Art

Born in a civilization of writing, the artist Rachid Koraïchi often speaks of belonging entirely to the written word. His art expresses a profound desire to reveal the most intimate secrets contained in texts and words. This exhibition aims to tell this intertwining, through a collection of his most important artworks. An exhibition that combines the visual dimension with the reading of texts by great poets and mystical writers such as Rûmî, Ibn Arabi, Attar and Rabia Al Adawya that Rachid Koraïchi often cites in his artistic practice. Demonstrating his desires and storytelling abilities, Koraïchi's memory alphabet is anchored in the world of glyphs and numerals, primary elements that nourish his fascination with the function, aesthetics, and cultural meaning of texts. A line of thought that also becomes an artistic gesture that draws from his Sufi heritage and that recognizes the amputations that people face due to their identities and past histories.
