Imagining the future through dreams

Fantasies resulting from the unconscious or dreamscapes expressing our aspirations, dreams are the engine of human existence. In them, will, hope, memory and imagination of what is to come are condensed. UCCA Center for Contemporary Art Beijing hosts fifteen artists from all over the world, called to explore inner worlds through their art to rethink contemporary life.
The languages deployed are many and varied: from painting to sculpture, from photography to video, including installations and performances. The objective is to open multiple sensorial and intellectual channels, inviting the public to reflect. The result is complex narratives that cross different space-time dimensions and give rise to a varied multitude of emotional plots. Subjective perception, mechanisms of desire, intimate experiences, gender and cultural identity and collective memories are projected into the empty space of the artistic medium and filled with imagination and emotional and imaginative visions of the future world, according to the gaze and sensitivity of today's artists.
