Weiner, the Master of conceptual art
#Exhibitions

In his early twenties, Lawrence Weiner created what would later be considered his first official work of art: Cratering Piece, created by exploding dynamite in a state park in Mill Valley, California, generating new sculptural fissures throughout interior of the landscape. The artist was later fortunate enough to participate in some of the most legendary post-war exhibitions that defined the contours of conceptual art including Live in Your Head: When Attitudes Become Form which was held in Bern, Switzerland, in 1969, the year after Using Walls (Indoors) in New York and the historic edition of Documenta 5 in Kassel, Germany in 1972. Considered a key figure in art in the 1960s, Lawrence Weiner uses language as a material object. His text-based works that explore the nature of language, meaning and communication are famous. He was responsible for a very particular work on the relationship between words and power.
