Human incursionsand industrial transformations in the photography of Edward Burtynsky
#Art

Edward Burtynsky is a Canadian-born photographer and artist known for his large-format photographs of industrial landscapes. His works put at center stage the growing development of industrialization in the world and its impact on nature and human existence. In this exhibition organized to celebrate over 40 years of Burtynsky's artistic career, 94 large format photographs, 13 high resolution murals and an augmented reality experience will be brought together. Organized under the curatorship of Marc Mayer, former director of the National Gallery of Canada and the Musée d'Art Contemporain de Montréal, the exhibition has as its central element and fulcrum the engaging presentation of the film In the Wake of Progress (2022). A story that at the same time highlights the Canadian photographer's relationship with the technological changes of the photographic medium over the decades to testify to the ways in which modern civilization has radically transformed our planet.
