Expressionists, a story of friendships and art

Expressionists, a story of friendships and art
#Exhibitions

The origins and story of a magical encounter are the narrative thread of an exhibition at Tate Modern that explores the groundbreaking work of a circle of friends and close collaborators known as "The Blue Knight". A group of artists gathered around Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter to experiment with color, sound and light, creating bold and vibrant art. The Expressionists exhibition is a story of friendships told through the art and individual particularities of each of the members of the movement: from Franz Marc's interest in color, to Alexander Sacharoff's freestyle performance, to Gabriele Münter's experimental photographs or finally to the dramatic paintings by Marianne Werefkin. A collection of paintings, sculptures and photographs from the Lenbachhaus in Munich, Germany, featuring over 130 works, brought together in the UK for the first time in 80 years.
