Returning to look at the ground, to feel the earth beneath our feet, becomes a radical gesture today. With Down to Earth, TANK Shanghai offers an urgent reflection on our relationship with the environment, inviting us to slow down and re-establish a direct connection with what sustains life. Curated by the winners of the TANK Curator Prize, the exhibition brings together artists from China and the international scene, creating a trajectory that weaves together diverse practices and sensibilities. At its core is the body: a tool of knowledge capable of rediscovering our connection to the land. Through references to ecological knowledge and interspecies relations, the works question the growing distance between humans and nature. Elements such as soil, breath, and life cycles become starting points for imagining new forms of coexistence. More than a simple exhibition, Down to Earth emerges as an invitation to “step down,” to root ourselves once again in the present and rethink our role within a shared ecosystem.
