Zang Tumb Tumb is a concrete and sound poem written by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, the founder of Futurism, an avant-garde movement known for its contribution to the visual arts, but which was actually active in a multitude of fields. Numerous writers gravitated towards Futurism, which in this field too was a broad and experimental movement with texts that reflected the desire to "double the expressive power of words" by emphasizing and exploiting the visual and sound dimensions of written language. The exhibition will see some rare editions of famous literary works such as the "bolted book" made by Fortunato Depero or copies of the most important manifestos from the archives of the Estorick Collection. In comparison with the Futurist poets the exhibition also displays the works of Dom Sylvester Houédard whose writings helped shape the development of post-war British literature and also influenced the global movement of experimental poetry.
