Among shaded paths and Renaissance vistas, the gardens of Villa Medici once again become a landscape to explore with both eyes and body. From May 21 to September 28, 2026, the Festival des Cabanes celebrates its fifth edition, inviting visitors to discover new ways of inhabiting space at the intersection of nature, art, and architecture. Six pavilions, designed by international architects and designers, are scattered throughout the gardens like light, unexpected installations. Built from natural or recycled materials, these structures reinterpret the idea of shelter, offering spaces for rest, shade, and contemplation. Each project explores, in an accessible and evocative way, themes such as sustainability, the relationship with the landscape, and the possibilities of non-invasive architecture. The experience unfolds through a free-flowing walk among the installations, with moments to pause at the temporary bookstore nestled in the greenery, conceived as a place for reading and encounter. Alongside the pavilions, a vibrant program of events enlivens the Roman summer with talks, performances, and shared experiences. A highlight of the festival is the Nuit des Cabanes on June 25, a special evening that blends art, music, and reflection on the future of living, transforming Villa Medici into an open space for exchange and experimentation.
