Bali has a new space for contemporary art, the Russ Gallery, a place with a well-defined soul rooted in the local cultural and artistic ferment. Since the first exhibitions, the gallery has communicated its willingness to contribute to the regeneration of artists by providing support to young Balinese and Indonesian talents who do not have the space to present their works to art connoisseurs. The proposed aim is to offer emerging artists the opportunity to build their careers and to network with curators, collectors, art lovers, art critics and artists. The scheduled events combine different languages, from fashion to painting passing through the most contemporary installations. The works already exhibited broaden the view on the many pictorial styles of the island which, starting from tradition, arrive at a spiritual abstractionism and a pop in a local key, a development that certainly deserves a visit.
Man and nature in perfect balance: the subak system
The fertile soil and the particularly humid climate have made Bali one of the most suitable places for rice production. But what makes Balinese rice unique is the way it is grown: steep terraces fed by an irrigation system devised in the 9th century and known as subak.
Pura Sada Kapal: the temple that changes for faith and for the ages
The vicissitudes linked to its destruction due to an earthquake and its reconstruction due to the faith of the inhabitants of the village in which it is located, make it a place with a fascinating and unique history and appearance.
