With Entanglements, Yuko Mohri brings her ethereal yet tangible vision to Pirelli HangarBicocca in an exhibition that weaves together nature, technology, and sensory perception. The Japanese artist - one of the most distinctive voices on the contemporary scene - has long explored the invisible forces that shape our world: gravity, humidity, magnetism, dust, and latent sounds. But the true core of her work lies beyond the physical realm. Through kinetic installations and sound sculptures composed of everyday objects and modified instruments, Mohri - who represented Japan at the 2024 Venice Biennale - stages the interdependence between living beings, materials, and environment. At the heart of her practice are themes such as the fragility of ecosystems, social coexistence, the unpredictability of time, and the transformative power of the ordinary. Her “systems” respond to context, evolve, embrace error and the ephemeral, and reject any rigid definition. The exhibition’s title points directly to these invisible and intricate connections. A newly conceived monograph and an original manga complete the project, offering fresh interpretive tools for a body of work that invites us to feel, even before we understand.
