On the occasion of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, the Petit Palais celebrates The body in movement with a scenographic journey through its collections. This reading of the permanent journey through the prism of the body, anatomy and sport highlights almost 50 works in the collection, from antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century, some of which have been specially resurfaced from the museum's deposits. The exhibition addresses various themes: the origin of the Games with representations of athletes on ancient vases, dance, the heroic body, women and sport. A journey that is enriched by video interviews with the athletes who re-read paintings, sculptures, art objects but also drawings and prints from the Petit Palais collections through their specific point of view.
