The presence of female artists active in Rome during the twentieth century is very large. Names who have carved out a certain fame for themselves by exhibiting in local galleries, at Biennials, at Union exhibitions and at Quadrennials. But only in recent years have some studios brought their work back from the shadows.
Starting from a survey of the works belonging to the collections of the museums belonging to the city of Rome, the exhibition tells how, from the Futurist movement of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, through the years of Fascism up to the first post-war period, the women painters and sculptors of the Twenty, Thirty and Forty have reread and interpreted their artistic commitment, animating the cultural life of the capital.
