The art of the Near East is on stage at the Louvre and for the first time the collection of the Parisian museum will be brought together on a single and unrepeatable occasion with that from the Ancient Art Department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. A dialogue between two collections - born from a solid collaborative relationship between these important cultural institutions - and which focuses on the history of art of some of the most important civilizations that populated between the 4th millennium BC and to the 5th century AD the territories of Mesopotamia and the kingdoms of the Near East ranging from Northern Iran to the slopes of the Hindu Kush. Extraordinary works that include precious archaeological finds such as a splendid Head of a Ruler with a Turban found in Mesopotamia and dating back to a period between 2190 and 2150 BC or a wonderful Kneeling Bull Holding a Vase from Northern Iran and dated between 3200 and 3000 BC.
