It’s impossible to deny the charm of the coloured fabrics created using the technique of Batik, all different and all unique. These complex and refined patterns have a long history behind them. Already in use around 1600, the technique of Batik was initially reserved for the fabrics used for the clothing of noble women and then it spread throughout the Indonesian archipelago, becoming the prime material of National dress with patterns that have existed for centuries. But how is it created? With a spouted instrument known as a "canting", wax is used to seal the fabric, making it impermeable, with an image which will remain of a colour different from that of the original fabric. Having the possibility to create a Batik piece means creating a work which is a true artistic creation. With the courses at Nirvana Batik, there’s the chance of practicing this traditional technique, even if you have no skills at drawing.
