The Petitenget Temple Between Legends and Evil Spirits

The Petitenget Temple Between Legends and Evil Spirits
#BulgariStories

Petitenget is one of the temples whose position is strategically among the best on the island. Being close to the sea, it is considered, together with other temples along the coast, one of the spiritual guardians of the perimeter of the island. It is located near beaches where you can enjoy the sunset and the street of the same name, animated by restaurants and other places to visit. Dating back to the 16th century, Petitenget features red brick and sandstone and a vast courtyard with a dozen different shrines and small pavilions. Around the temple hovers one of the countless Balinese legends that narrate its construction as protection from evil spirits and negative energy that damages the surrounding environment. The story is about a scary-faced giant, Buto Ijo, who lived in that area and was asked to guard a chest. However, the monstrous and magical being perhaps took his task too seriously, making anyone who approached that place ill. Only the construction of the temple resolved the matter and since then no evil seems to have affected the locals.
