The exhibition, curated by the Intesa Sanpaolo Historical Archive, celebrates the legendary Italian tour of the Fab Four, which took place from June 24 to 28, 1965, in Milan, Genoa, and Rome. The tour stopped at the Vigorelli Velodrome in Milan on June 24, with two concerts attended by approximately 7.000 and 20.000 spectators. Two days later, the band performed at the Palazzo dello Sport in Genoa, and on June 27 at the Teatro Adriano in Rome. Though not sold out, the reception was enthusiastic: crowds awaited them at Milan’s Central Station, press conferences were held, and a somewhat milder form of “Beatlemania” swept Italy, no less authentic than in London or New York. The Publifoto Archive holds over 500 photographs from those memorable days, capturing the concerts, the band’s arrival in Milan, ecstatic fans, and behind-the-scenes moments. For the 60th anniversary, 62 selected enlargements will be exhibited in the evocative Chiostro Ottagono at Gallerie d’Italia. All materials will be restored, digitized, and made available online. Blending historical memory and pure pop enthusiasm, this photographic exhibition offers an emotional journey into 1965 Italy, when the Beatles briefly captured the heart of the country.
