The exhibition A Brief History of Sculpture: Time Deposits offers a journey through the layering of matter and thought. Hosted at the Wind H Art Center, it brings together archaeological artifacts and contemporary works in a fluid narrative where sculpture is no longer a static object, but a form of consciousness in constant transformation. From the ancient bone carving of the Lingjing Bird to silicone simulations, from porcelain to 3D printing and digital programming, sculpture here expands beyond traditional gestures - embracing performance, lightweight installations, hybrid materials, and emerging technologies. The result is a rich dialogue between eras, where each work reflects on time, identity, and the evolving relationship between form, space, and history. Alongside classical figures, hybrid forms emerge: dynamic, modular, and permeable “semi-sculptures.” These are no longer autonomous objects, but presences that blend into their environment and the viewer’s experience. The exhibition invites a profound reflection on the continuity between past and future, where art becomes a living archive of memory and possibility.
