London's Royal Albert Hall is hosting a major musical event: legendary guitarist and co-founder of the Grateful Dead Bobby Weir will perform with his Wolf Bros and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. The concert marks Weir's return to London after more than twenty years and his first ever performance at the historic concert hall. Joined by Don Was on bass, Jay Lane on drums and Jeff Chimenti on keyboards, Weir will present two full sets that will include orchestral interpretations of Grateful Dead rock classics, pieces from his solo repertoire and other significant compositions from his career. The symphonic arrangements were created by composer and Stanford University Professor Giancarlo Aquilanti, who has collaborated with Weir on previous similar projects. The London event follows a series of orchestral concerts Weir has given across the United States, including a sold-out four-night run at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and collaborations with symphony orchestras in Stanford, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Chicago and New Orleans.
