Cirque du Soleil presenta OVO al Royal Albert Hall

Cirque du Soleil is ready to renew its beloved New Year's Eve tradition in London, bringing one of its most acclaimed shows: OVO. The production will make its long-awaited return to the historic Royal Albert Hall for a limited run, transforming the iconic arena into a microcosm teeming with life, energy, and breathtaking acrobatics. OVO (Portuguese for "egg") is a colorful and vibrant odyssey into the hidden world of insects. The show celebrates the beauty and biodiversity of this ecosystem, where the protagonists work, eat, play, and fall in love in a whirlwind of movement. The story kicks off with the arrival of a mysterious egg (the OVO), sparking wonder and curiosity among the insect community, particularly the clumsy "Stranger"'s infatuation with a charming "Ladybug". True to the Cirque du Soleil brand, OVO is a family-friendly experience combining clowning, music, and gravity-defying acrobatics. The cast of over 50 performers from 12 countries embodies diverse insect species. Crickets can be seen leaping and flipping through the air with precision, fire ants juggling with exceptional synchronicity, and butterflies performing an ethereal aerial pas-de-deux. One of the show's highlights is the Flying Act, in which a group of beetles soar high, darting between the rings and the center of the room in a dazzling display of coordination and courage. The show is accompanied by live music with Brazilian-inspired rhythms and lavish, detailed costumes that bring the insect microcosm to life on a grand scale. Created in 2009, OVO has been seen by over seven million people in over 40 countries, establishing itself as a beloved classic. Its return to London follows its acclaimed run at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018, strengthening the circus company's connection with the prestigious Victorian venue. The OVO experience at the Royal Albert Hall promises to be a "vibrant adventure" and an exhilarating thrill for young and old alike, once again pushing the boundaries of physical theatre and circus artistry.
