Julie Curtiss explores suburban life in Suburban Lawns

The first exhibition in France devoted to so-called “degenerate” art, it explores and puts into perspective the Nazi regime’s methodical attack on modern art, showing the scope of the aesthetic and the artists it targeted.

The exhibition highlights the poetics of ruin, organic decomposition, the forbidden or even the apocalyptic spectre, that testify to the obsessions of collector Jean Chatelus with 400 works that reflect different aesthetics and voices.

An exhibition with over 300 works to tell the pulverized universe of Art Brut through the collection donated by Bruno Decharme to the National Museum of Modern Art of the Centre Pompidou.

The exhibition will present over 170 works of Chinese art mainly dating from the 18th and 19th centuries from the collections of Adolphe Thiers and Adèle de Rothschild. Scrolls, album pages, engravings, prints, porcelain, jade, lacquer and precious art objects in ivory, bronze or wood inlaid with gems and mother-of-pearl.
