Edvard Munch's masterpieces at Palazzo Reale

40 years after the last major exhibition that Milan dedicated to the Norwegian artist, Edvard Munch returns to the Lombardy capital with a monographic exhibition that will present a selection of 100 works and which will be organized in collaboration with the Munch Museum in Oslo. The exhibition scheduled at Palazzo Reale will testify to the artistic production created over a lifetime, from 1880 to 1944. The symbolist artist who knew how to bring the anguish of modern man to canvas, launched a challenge to his contemporaries with the radical modernity of his art. Munch's provocative art exerted a powerful influence on the European art scene as the old century gave way to the new. The strength of his art reaches the present day also thanks to some masterpieces that have become part of contemporary culture: one above all The Scream, a painting which, as the author himself explained, was inspired by a Norwegian landscape inflamed by a red sunset.
