The celebrated duo's astonishing hyperrealistic ceramic sculptures appear as though they have always belonged among the historic interiors, engaging effortlessly with armour, furniture, paintings and decorative objects. Founded in 1980 by Giampaolo Bertozzi and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni, the artists helped redefine ceramics as one of the most compelling languages of contemporary art, using it to explore universal themes such as time, memory and the fragility of existence. More than thirty works, many created specifically for this exhibition, weave together illusion and reality, abundance and decay, reinterpreting the tradition of vanitas through a distinctly contemporary lens.
