Journey into Giorgio De Chirico's imagination

Journey into Giorgio De Chirico's imagination
#Exhibitions

It has been over ten years since there has been a major exhibition in Japan dedicated to Giorgio de Chirico, Italian painter, sculptor and writer, main exponent of the artistic movement of Metaphysics, one of the great Masters of the 20th century. The center of this new exhibition in Tokyo are precisely his "metaphysical paintings", works which through mysterious landscapes, enigmatic scenes, still lifes, bring to light an invisible, surreal world. Works that De Chirico began to create around 1910, thanks to his long chats with another brilliant artist, the futurist Carlo Carrà, and which exerted a profound influence on artists and artistic movements around the world. The exhibition recounts De Chirico's 70-year pictorial career following some of his major themes - Piazza Italia, Metaphysical Interior and Mannequin - attempting to offer a broad overview of his artistic production from his beginnings to his late works.
