Triptych of Art and Museums in Tokyo

Triptych of Art and Museums in Tokyo
#Exhibitions

Paris, Tokyo and Osaka: three art collections compared. This is the innovative point of view that takes shape for the first time in an exhibition that opens in May at the National Museum of Modern Art. In addition to the works that are part of the permanent collection of the important cultural institution in Tokyo, two other museums are involved in this experiment: the Nakanoshima Art Museum in Osaka and the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris. The idea is to play around the number three. Each of the museums therefore selected some works from their own collections with the intention of comparing them with those of the other museums to recreate a sort of "impossible triptych". The exhibition is made up of 34 trios of over 150 works, including paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, projects and videos by 110 artists, presented in seven chapters according to themes and concepts to propose a new way of seeing modern art from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day.
