From September 3 to 18, 2025, MITO SettembreMusica once again brings together Turin and Milan with a program that celebrates great international music and the cultural bond between the two cities, under the artistic direction of Giorgio Battistelli. Among the highlights, the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano offers a musical journey between America and Europe: from the vibrant Overture from Candide by Bernstein to the virtuosity of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 16, performed by pianist Seong-Jin Cho, and the majestic Symphony No. 3 by Copland, a landmark of 20th-century American music. The 2025 edition also pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich’s death, featuring several of his works that reflect personal dramas and political tensions, blending irony with experimentation. MITO thus reaffirms its mission: opening new sonic horizons while maintaining a strong dialogue with its audience.
