Lines and colors in Franco Fontana's photography

It was not a medium, but the message: the true protagonist of Franco Fontana's shots is color, whose expressive potential the Emilian photographer thoroughly explored, even when, as in the 1950s, color photography was considered not very artistic or even amateurish. The exhibition reveals the infinite optical possibilities in the shots of a great photographer: between daring shots, reduced depth of field and focusing from above, the photographic images become abstract compositions where geometric lines and colors are the main elements. If the less experienced will have the opportunity to get to know the work of a true artist of the lens, photography enthusiasts will discover him grappling with subjects that were unusual for him, approached, of course, with his usual originality. "Photography is what we make of it," the Master maintained on the other hand: "it is not what we see, but what we are."
