Il Mori Art Museum sta organizzando la prima grande mostra museale di Louise Bourgeois in Giappone in 27 anni. Louise Bourgeois, nata nel 1911 a Parigi, morta quattordici anni fa a New York, è considerata una delle artiste più importanti del secolo scorso. Nel corso della sua prolifica carriera durata settant'anni, ha tradotto gli stati emotivi attraverso un'infinità di materiali, sviluppando un corpus di lavoro eterogeneo che unisce l'intensità psicologica con un'inventività formale straordinaria. La mostra presenterà opere di tutte le fasi della carriera dell’artista, inclusi dipinti, stampe, disegni, sculture, installazioni e scritti. Tra questi per la prima volta in Asia orientale una selezione di dipinti di Bourgeois, datati dal 1938 al 1949. La mostra presenta anche le opere della sua serie forse più rappresentativa spider che esplora i temi dell’amore materno, della guarigione e della memoria.
