Mozart and his "Così fan tutte" in Tokyo

Mozart and his "Così fan tutte" in Tokyo
#Opera

This famous opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is part of the "Lorenzo Da Ponte trilogy", together with The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni. The title means "all women are like this" a phrase which, read with today's eyes, could appear disrespectful and chauvinistic. But you certainly cannot underestimate Mozart's masterpiece, one of his most extraordinary and entertaining works. It is said that the opera was commissioned by none other than Joseph II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, based on a phrase uttered by Basil in another famous opera by Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro. When Così fan tutte was premiered in Vienna, the opera was such a success that the “encores” doubled the duration of the performance. Today it is recognized as an extraordinary youth romantic comedy that reveals human nature and the subtlety of male and female emotions. An opera guided by wonderful music. Directed in Tokyo by Damiano Michieletto, this production premiered in May 2011, set in a modern campsite. On stage, some renowned singers will take on the roles of the protagonists of the story, including Serena Gamberoni, Daniela Pini and Joel Prieto, under the orchestral direction of Iimori Norichika.
