A collection fit for a king at the Buleleng museum
#BulgariStories

Visiting Bali means approaching a place that welcomes people from all over the world, ready to listen to external influences but also with a history of colonialism that has pushed the inhabitants of the island to strenuously defend their very complex and varied culture and identity. This gave rise to places such as the Buleleng Museum, inaugurated in 2002 to preserve the cultural heritage of Northern Bali. The collection includes ancient weapons, statues and sarcophagi, with a section dedicated to art objects such as paintings, fabrics, and handcrafted gold and silver artefacts. Since the Buleleng Regency is known as the largest agricultural production area in Bali, there is no shortage of various objects also related to daily life such as agricultural and work tools. The finds date back to the 8th century, displayed in an itinerary that groups them based on the period and function in the various rooms, from the historical room to the ethnological room, from the room dedicated to prehistory to the art room up to the "Panji Sakti" room. Almost all the historical objects preserved in this museum belong to the family of King Buleleng Ki Gusti Anglurah Panji Sakti, a 17th century ruler who contributed to the development of the area, and to subsequent donations.
