BAO LI XUAN

The two-Michelin-starred Chinese fine dining restaurant Bao Li Xuan serves haute Cantonese cuisine. With Chef Fu at the helm, the menu fuses tradition with quality and seasonality.

Bao Li Xuan occupies an elegant space on the third floor of Shanghai’s historic Chamber of Commerce building, now part of Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai. The restaurant’s design pays homage to old Shanghai with turquoise raw silk wallpaper, black lacquer panels and art deco patterned carpets. Set beneath impeccably restored coffered ceilings, décor blends a sleek Chinese aesthetic with contemporary flair, expressed in elements like the custom-made Italian chairs by Maxalto and artistic lighting by Flos. Six private dining rooms, available for exclusive banquets or dinner parties, are each clad in a different colour silk wallpaper – a tradition native to China – in hues inspired by Bvlgari gemstones and adorned with hand-drawn jewellery sketches from the Bvlgari archives.

To complement the cuisine, the resident sommelier can help guests select fine wines from the large walk-through wine cellar, as well as a variety of Chinese baijiu, yellow wine and fresh teas.

In recognition of Chef Fu’s culinary excellence, Bao Li Xuan was awarded one Michelin star in 2020 and two Michelin stars from 2021.

The Whisky Bar at the Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai

The Whisky Bar

For a relaxing after-dinner cocktail, the oak-panelled Whisky Bar is a dignified option. Adjoining Bao Li Xuan restaurant, it features thoughtful design touches such as contemporary Maxalto tan leather armchairs and freestanding Flos lamps that help create the feel of a classic members-only club. A luminous ivory onyx bar and backlit onyx cabinets hold an extensive collection of premium whiskies and spirits, so that guests may choose from an elite range of vintages and distilleries. To add to the private, personalised feel of the Bar, a ‘bottle-keeping’ service is also available for guests.
