Susumu Shingu: When the Wind Becomes Art

There comes a moment when the wind ceases to be invisible and becomes art. In the hands of Susumu Shingu, the Japanese Master of kinetic art, air, water, and gravity are transformed into delicate sculptures that seem to breathe in harmony with nature. The Cosmos traces more than sixty years of artistic research, where poetry, engineering, and wonder come together.
Shingu's works do more than occupy space: they move through it, sway, change direction, and respond to the forces of the natural world. The exhibition brings together monumental kinetic sculptures, models, archival materials, and the celebrated Wind Caravan project, an extraordinary collection of wind-powered works that has travelled from the rice fields of Japan to the steppes of Mongolia and as far as New Zealand. Visitors are also accompanied by Sandalino, a small imaginary traveller from another planet who looks at Earth with curiosity and amazement, reminding us how precious and fragile its balance truly is.
